Smeaton House Captains
Rick de Wilde
"House captains have always been examples of role model students: an insight into A Levels, responsible and confident, with the capability to present for 200 students. I knew I wanted to be one. Having thought more about the houses during the application process, I recognise more clearly the importance of them at DHSB with the way they bind the school community together and give sense of belonging. A lot changed over the covid years so my aim coming into this role has been to re-establish what the house - and the role of house captain - actually means to the students. Am I role model now as well? I guess ask the students, but I can definitely recommend this role and the development it gives you."

“For me the role of House Captain was something I always aspired to. The opportunity to work together to motivate and support 200 students seemed like an excellent way to gain experience in leadership. Having achieved the position I found it exactly as I had thought and being able to present assemblies, plan and lead events as well as communicate to students has been both very enjoyable and a good learning experience. Going forward I am incredibly excited to work with my partner to deliver Smeaton a clean sweep of all available trophies!”
