Leslie House Captains
Isla McBride
"My vision, having been granted the opportunity of a house captain, is to nurture individuality and uniqueness of students through encouraging various methods of communicating student contributions within school and allowing students to do what makes them feel the most comfortable and allows them to fully express their wants and needs whilst alleviating their stress and anxiety as much as possible, particularly for those who find socialising more daunting within an academic setting. My aim is to support those who may feel overshadowed and undervalued, just as Jack Leslie himself once was due to racial discrimination and prejudice, for factors outside of their control. I wish to celebrate their achievements to the greatest degree, which will hopefully help inspire them to reach their fullest potential, as well as helping them to feel proud of not just their individual skills, but also their peers’ and house’s skills and achievements, fostering unity and teamwork within Leslie."

"As House Captain, my vision is to strengthen participation, pride, and community across our House. I want every student to feel involved, whether through sport, music, academic societies, volunteering, or new initiatives we build together. Having led teams, mentored younger students, and represented the school in sport and leadership roles, I’ve seen how belonging grows when people are encouraged, supported, and given opportunities to challenge themselves. I aim to help create an environment where students motivate one another, celebrate each other’s achievements, and feel confident stepping into new experiences. From improving communication between year groups to encouraging more peer mentoring and involvement in House events, my focus is on helping every student feel valued and inspired to contribute. Above all, I want our House to be a place where people feel supported, connected, and proud of what we achieve together."

"I hope to focus on encouraging participation in extracurriculars - especially in the lower years - as to cultivate a more impassioned outlook on school life (both socially and academically)."
